So how have the drivers taken to Taxi! ?

“In this area it’s a well know fact that when a taxi company installs full data they lose drivers. That wasn’t the case for us we, we didn't lose a single driver. The investment has certainly paid off, we are doing a lot more jobs and our drivers takings have gone up no end.”

Nottingham is a bustling student city with high demand for taxis. Darren Kitchen, owner of Alert Cars needed a system that could cope with the pressure, but was worried about trying to force changes on the drivers.

What was wrong with your old manual way of working?

“We used to do everything manually in the office, and we thought we were doing pretty well until we saw some other systems in action, so we knew we needed a computer. In Nottingham there is a big demand for drivers and it‘s important that they are happy with the system: other companies in the area who have gone full data have run into big problems with drivers leaving. CodedData were able to configure Taxi! to work in the way our drivers wanted, they get the adress on a screen in the car, but they can still hear all the work going out.”

What about radios?

“We are using the Cleartone CM7000 radios. The radio comes complete with a remote data head for around the same price most people charge for a data head on its own. CodedData don’t supply radios, so we got them from our existing radio dealer. the data head can do loads of things that we don't really use, but our drivers love the simplicity.”
